I’ve been kicking back on the beach in the Dominican Republic and a crazy though came to mind. This would be an awesome place to rent a Harley or other big bike and tour for a couple weeks. Of course the sound of the Harleys on the street behind me might have done a little to spur this thought!
The Caribbean is an awesome place to ride scenic back roads, follow the coast line, or even head up to the hills on some windy road. For the most part the weather is great, (more…)

Motorcycle Trinkets?…. Next time you pass by that Ninja street bike or Harley take a closer look at what the owner has to adorn his bike. It’s amazing to see the variety of motorcycle trinkets people have. Some are useful like a handlebar mount for your camera others fall into the category of bling, shiny and useless.
I’ve been spending some time in the DR and have gotten quite a few laughs out of the bike ornaments that they have here. Now, we’re not talking big bikes here. If you see a Harley you can bet that it is being driven by a foreigner. Most of the motorcycles (motors) here are in the range of 70s, 90s and a 125cc is consider a big bike (Yah, I know, this was the size of my bike when I was 8). But they do love to add accessories! In 2003, Tesla was founded in Palo Alto, California. The start-up car manufacturer first produced the Tesla Roadster, an electric sports car that retailed at $100,000. The Roadster was first launched in 2008 and there are now more than 2,100 models on the road in no less than 32 countries.
Tesla S EV
The second production car to be manufactured by Tesla is the Tesla Model S, which is a more affordable option than the Tesla Roadster. The Model S is an all-electric sedan car that will hold up to five adults and two children. The two children will be seated in folding seats that face the rear in the very back of the car. And when those seats aren’t being used, there’ll be enough space there to carry a mountain bike and a 50 inch-screen TV. The Model S, alongside the Nissan Leaf, is one of the few examples of (more…)

One of the car manufacturers most well-known for its pioneering environmental technology is the Japanese company Honda. It was one of the first manufacturers to introduce a production hybrid vehicle when it launched the Honda Insight in 1999. The Insight is still going strong – and has been through several generations.
Meanwhile Honda has brought out other hybrid cars including the CR-Z, the Fit, and most recently, the 2013 Accord – showcased at Detroit Motor Show in January this year. The hybrid Accord should be on US roads by the end of 2013. It will be Honda’s first plug-in hybrid and will have an electric only range of about 18 miles, meaning that most commutes can be done on electric only power.
And the company has kept track with other manufacturers in producing electric vehicle concepts as well. Most recently it introduced two electric concept vehicles at Tokyo Motor Show in late 2011. The minute Micro Commuter is a three-seater for inner city use – with an even tinier electrically powered fold-up micro scooter in its boot. The Micro Commuter will have a maximum speed of 37 mph and is powered by a lithium-ion battery. The driver sits up front alone and there are two passenger seats in the back – it would be very cosy travelling though! (more…)

The Civic is a car that has gone through its fair share of generations during its forty year history, and now with the arrival of the 2012 Honda Civic, the ninth generation has gone on sale.
However, on the outside, there’s nothing amazingly different. In fact, more than anything you get the feeling that the company has decided to tone down the eighth generation body and smooth out the sharper edges. The Civic remains very much recognisable and true to its heritage. (more…)
Its still days before the Superbowl and the automotive manufacturers can’t wait to get people to start checking out their ads. Several of the big brands have already released their ads, companies like Volkswagen (my favorite so far), Lexus, Chevy Sonic, Acura NSX, Honda CRV, Kia and Fiat 500. You can check out all the pre-releases at 2012 Superbowl Commercials
Dog Strikes Back
So far my favorite is the continuation of Volkswagen’s Star Wars theme, remember “The Force” from the 2011 Superbowl? You can check out the 2012 spots as well as the 2011 spot at 2012 Volkswagen Superbowl Spots. Along with “The Dog Strikes Back” Volkswagen has already released “The Bark Side”, you will never think of the Imperial March the same way again (don’t forget to keep your eyes open for Chewy in the song!) How can the future of motoring be all-electric if we all have to recharge our vehicles so frequently?
As featured elsewhere on this website, it’ very commendable that so many camping stations in California are now offering recharging facilities, but this is still a long way short of making electrical vehicles a practical reality for many – or most – families. (more…)
